Lights, Camera, Action!!
A professional actor, Leo Lolis, visited West Derby School in July to coach and direct a group of our Y11 GCSE Drama students in ‘Acting for Camera’. He began by explaining about acting as a possible full or part-time career and the relevance of agents, auditions, training, scripting and performing. Above all, he stressed that there was no room for divas or primadonnas! He challenged the students by asking,
” Are you able to take direction? ”
“ Can you play it differently if you are asked? ”
They certainly stepped up to the mark and on Thursday, 21st July there was a premiere red carpet screening of their films. The audience, made up of friends and family of the actors, Aim Higher Associates, Governors and staff were treated to light refreshments before witnessing the excellent show reels on the cinematic screen in the Theatre.
